Data Source Mapping Staff Activity

Free Activity + Data Reflection

Before you collect more data, map what you already know.

This staff meeting activity helps teams identify the data they already collect, how often they actually use it, what it is telling them, where information is missing, and whose experiences may not yet be visible.

01 What are we collecting?
02 What is it showing us?
03 What is missing?
04 Whose voice is absent?
Next Question What deserves attention now?

Data is useful only when it helps us see something more clearly.

Teams often collect far more information than they meaningfully use. This activity creates space to step back, inventory what already exists, identify patterns and blind spots, and decide what information is actually needed before adding another measure.

01 Map Current Sources
02 Interpret What They Show
03 Find Gaps + Missing Voices
04 Choose the Next Step
Map before we add.

More data is not automatically better data. Before introducing another survey, screener, dashboard, or reporting requirement, understand what information is already available, how it is being used, and what questions the current system still cannot answer.
